Who Is This Coming From the Wilderness….
There I was.. in my job, routinely conducting complicated procedures with ease and patience. I walked into the room and heard a whisper in my heart, “Ibex Ascending.”
“Huh,” I thought. “That’s a great name for a blog.”
It occurred to me that while doing research, my mind stayed on Yeshua. He had infused every area of my being and thoughts. I could perform procedures and still have Him whisper His magnificent ideas into my heart.
I was happy to ponder that my being an uncommon Christian brought a smile to My Master’s face. He could lead me wherever He pleased, and I would perform the work He set me to do.
“My identity never rests on what I do because I know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Therefore, my gaze always returns to the heights where He abides. My heart is content to stay under the Shadow of His Wings while my Shepherd, Yeshua, leads me to the green pastures.
Whatever is necessary for Yeshua to have His way, my response shall be “Hineni” or “Here Am I.”
It would be a few months before I sat down and began investigating how I would set up “Ibex Ascending” and what it would all be about.
The Lord began to tease apart the message in a simple manner so I could comprehend its message.
“The High Mountains Belong to The 100% Pure and Wild.”
And… who better exemplifies the great wildness we are called to in purity than the ibex?
The ibex, or wild mountain goat, ascends the hill of the Lord with purpose and determination to:
Receive the Words of the Great King
Envision and begin to dream about His Kingdom coming to Earth
Become the Words He has written and spoken
Go down the mountain to spread the Good News of the Gospel
Like myself, ibex are willing to defy gravity to reach the place designed for their growth and return to the valley during winter when it’s time to share the Good News.
Yes, we are not your everyday personality. We’re strange, shy, and complex. But this is only because we know that the high mountains belong to the 100% pure and wild.
Our best defence comes from being covered in the glory from the Secret Place, separating ourselves from every wicked way, so Yeshua is the only light of our eyes.
And an ibex knows that each valley experience is a training and testing ground for ascending the heights.
It is the zenith of the crucified life.
And so, my question to you today is:
Are you ready to become surefooted and nimble, climbing the heights as the 100% pure and wild child of God you were created to be?
